About

The Community Fisheries Network (CFN) is a group of community-based fishing organizations from across the United States that have joined together to address common challenges. While our fisheries differ from community to community, we find common ground in sharing information about our work on and off the water, the management challenges we've faced, and how we can best adapt to change.

Purpose

The goal of the Community Fisheries Network is to increase the long-term sustainability of commercial fishing communities by building our business-planning acumen, the strength of our fishing stocks and marine ecosystems, our social networks, our economic resilience, and our ability to expand our markets through effective storytelling.

Approach

We work towards a triple bottom line goal of social, economic and environmental sustainability. We support conservation that leads to long-term viability of the ecosystems we derive our livelihoods from, and we are committed to the future of our communities.

The Community Fisheries Network builds capacity in:

  • organizational development
  • sustainability standards and metrics
  • seafood and fisheries business-planning
  • communications and marketing
